The Women's Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation awarded Cincinnati Union Bethel's Off the Streets $1,500 to provide transportation assistance for the women. This is a tremendous boost in helping our women access services and keep appointments. Thank you to The Women's Fund!
At its annual meeting on June 25, 2013, Affordable Housing Advocates (AHA) recognized Cincinnati Union Bethel, its board, staff, and residents for outstanding courage and stewardship in saving housing for women at the Anna Louise Inn.
Carol Thornton-Gamble, the Outreach-Intake Coordinator for the Off the Streets program, is being honored as a Cincinnati TIP (Trafficking in Persons) Hero at the Cincinnati Underground Railroad Freedom Center on Thursday, June 20, for her work in combating trafficking. She is one of three local people to be honored.
Fifteen women graduated from the Off the Streets program on Friday, June 14th. Judge Heather Russell and Vice-Mayor Roxanne Qualls addressed the graduates, and Angela Grover created a tribute video to the graduates based on the song, "Back from the Dead." It was an inspiratonal and wonderful graduation.
Therapy dogs visit Cincinnati Union Bethel's Early Learning Academy Camp Washington every Friday and the children love it! They have learned how to pet a dog, how to calm themselves, and that bigger dogs aren't scary.
Our preschool in College Hill has earned the highest three-star rating from Step Up to Quality, the voluntary rating system for early care and education centers in Ohio. That means that all of CUB's Head Start preschools have earned three stars!
