A Few New Ropes to Learn for Chawna Piper

//A Few New Ropes to Learn for Chawna Piper

Chawna Piper knows the ropes of teaching at Cincinnati Union Bethel. She’s been working in our Head Start preschools since 2007, advancing from assistant teacher to lead teacher to her latest role as Site Manager at Millvale preschool. When asked what drew her to CUB initially, she mentioned that we are very hands-on with the families and also the opportunity to grow professionally.

Chawna knows that there will be a few new ropes to learn with her new position at Millvale, but welcomes them eagerly. Her focus will be on building rapport with the teachers and increasing parent/teacher interaction. She hopes that improvements in these areas will translate directly to a better learning experience for the children.

DeeAnn Camp, Director of Early Childhood Education, praised Chawna’s background and experience, Chawna was a classroom teacher for many years so she understands what children, parents and staff need in terms of quality. We are excited to have her in this new role.

Although Chawna will be busy through the end of the year and into summer with her position, she hopes to enjoy time with her husband and two boys who live in Avondale. When work calls, she goes with a feeling of purpose to help create the joy that the families have when they see their child succeeding. It puts a smile on my face.
