Cincinnati Scholar House

Mission and Vision

The Cincinnati Scholar House will serve as a bridge to change lives, families, and communities through education and job readiness. The mission of the Cincinnati Scholar House is to end the cycle of poverty and transform our community by empowering families and young children to succeed in education and achieve life-long self-sufficiency.

Three community-focused organizations—Cincinnati Union Bethel, Christ Church Cathedral, and The Model Group—have joined in a unique partnership to develop and operate Cincinnati’s first Scholar House, a transitional learning-living program that will equip low-income single parents with the support they need to complete post-secondary education and improve their work prospects.

By attending a post-secondary school, the parent will pave the way to full-time employment, leading to a brighter future for them and their children. It will provide an opportunity for families to break the cycle of poverty and achieve transformative change …two generations at a time.
Modeled on a Kentucky program with a 15-year track record, the program has taken root in ten additional locations in Kentucky and Ohio, including Lexington, Louisville, Paducah, Bowling Green, Owensboro, and Pikeville.
Our program will be the first Scholar House model to operate in Cincinnati.
