After 11 months of preparation, our inaugural Launch the Line fashion competition fundraiser took flight at Lunken Airport on November 10th. Our Project Runway themed event partnered designers in our community with fundraising models and graduates from our programs to create a ‘Strong Woman’ themed design competition. Not only was our goal with this fundraiser to be something other than a rubber chicken dinner, it was to help get the word of CUB and its programs out into the community and meet amazing new supporters along the way. This event gained momentum through the fundraising effort of our models and designers all over social media and as a result our ticket sales soared. Everyone wanted to come out to support their friends and family in the contest and to see the women in our programs and how they are thriving. Not only are they stronger because of CUB, we are stronger because of them.
Thank you to all of our sponsors and everyone who attended the event, we could not have done this without your support. Thank you also to everyone who spent the last 11 months planning, organizing and executing this audaciously epic event. From our Development Committee led by Ryan Walker, to the volunteers and everyone in between this event took a village… and a half! And lastly, to our models and designers…you made this happen and we are humbled by your support, passion, and talent. Congratulations to Julia Bond who was our $1500 first prize design winner, and her models Pam Kravetz and Linda Jackson who rocked their ‘Strong Woman’ outfits! Our 2nd place winner in the design contest was designer Nicole Chambers and her models Mary Wineberg and Jordan McDonald whose 1980’s Gem and the Holograms theme wowed the judges.
